PhD in Multi-wavelength Observations of Galactic and Extragalactic Compact Objects and Transients University of Trento in Italy

PhD positions are open in the National Doctoral Program in Space Science and Technology, under the Observation of the Universe Curriculum. The advertised project is titled “Multi-wavelength observations of Galactic and extragalactic compact objects and transients” and is hosted at the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS of Pavia.

The research is centered on astrophysics, astronomy, and observational data analysis. The successful candidate will study Galactic and extragalactic compact objects such as white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes, together with astrophysical transients including magnetars, ultra-luminous X-ray sources, bursts from compact objects, fast radio bursts, gamma-ray bursts, and tidal disruption events. The role includes analysis of data across all wavelengths from space- and ground-based instruments, interpretation of observations, optimization of observation and data-mining strategies, and possible participation in the development of new observatories and instruments.
