About this position
The Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS) in Bremen is expanding its work on the prevention of chronic, non-communicable diseases across the life course and is seeking several PhD students for this research programme.
The position sits in a cross-departmental environment involving all scientific departments of BIPS and offers the chance to contribute to projects that connect epidemiology, prevention science, and health-related decision making. The research themes include factors beyond individual diseases, such as lifestyle, environment, digital media, biological and social factors, and early detection.
Doctoral researchers will work with existing large cohort studies, including IDEFICS/I.Family and the NAKO Health Study, and will also contribute to a new birth cohort. In addition, the project includes analysis of secondary health claims data and research aimed at developing and evaluating innovative strategies for targeted prevention. The role combines project participation, data analysis, interpretation of results, and communication of findings through publications and presentations.
BIPS describes a stimulating international environment, good infrastructure, close links with the University of Bremen, and a supportive team that works across disciplines. The institute also highlights opportunities connected to its broader research culture and the chance to engage in research spanning epidemiology, implementation science, and health decision science.
