About this position
The Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS) in Bremen is expanding its research on preventing chronic, non-communicable diseases across the life course, and is seeking several postdoctoral researchers for this cross-departmental effort.
The position sits within a broad prevention research environment that combines large cohort studies, a new birth cohort, and secondary analysis of health claims data. The work spans factors beyond individual diseases, including lifestyle, environment, digital media, and biological and social determinants, alongside early detection and the development of targeted prevention strategies.
Postdocs will contribute to research projects that are linked across BIPS’s scientific departments and will work on topics such as epidemiology with primary data, epidemiological research based on health claims data, implementation science, health decision science, and project management. The role includes conducting and coordinating research projects, publishing and presenting results, writing research reports, co-supervising students, supporting external funding acquisition, and developing independent research projects.
BIPS emphasizes an international, collaborative research setting with good infrastructure and close ties to the University of Bremen. Postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to build scientific independence and develop their own research focus within the institute’s prevention-oriented portfolio.
The advert also notes support for international scholars through the U Bremen Research Alliance Welcome Center and a family-friendly working culture with flexible arrangements.
