The project is especially interested in how financial instruments like transition bonds and green taxonomies shape time horizons, uncertainty, risk distribution, and power in transition processes.
Eligibility: applicants should have a relevant master’s degree or equivalent, strong English skills, and experience with qualitative research. A background or demonstrated interest in climate, energy, finance, political economy, STS, or related critical social science approaches is highly valued. Scandinavian language skills are helpful but not required.
Funding: the position is fully funded for 4 years and includes a salary from the university. Teaching or other departmental duties may be included and would extend the appointment accordingly. The PhD programme comprises 240 credits, including 60 credits of coursework.

What's required
Applicants must have a second-cycle qualification by 1 January 2027, or have completed at least 240 credits with at least 60 credits at second-cycle level, or have equivalent knowledge. A relevant master’s degree in Sustainability Science, Human Geography, Sociology, Science and Technology Studies, Political Science, Anthropology, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should show a strong interest in critical social science approaches, climate/energy/finance-related research, and ideally political economy, economic sociology, or STS. Experience with qualitative research is required, along with excellent written and spoken English. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary international team is expected. Scandinavian language skills are an advantage but not required.
