About this position

This PhD position at Radboud University focuses on applied infrared spectroscopy using ultrabroadband sources, specifically intrapulse difference frequency generation (IDFG) in the mid-infrared range. The successful candidate will join the Trace Detection Laboratory (TDLab) within the Institute for Molecules and Materials (IMM) at the Faculty of Science, working on the development and deployment of advanced spectroscopic instruments for multispecies gas detection. The research involves building and optimizing a field-deployable spectrometer, performing field measurements using coherent open-path spectroscopy (COPS), and analyzing data for applications such as environmental monitoring of greenhouse gases and air pollutants, as well as plasma-based conversion of industrial waste gases. The project leverages cutting-edge technology, including an in-house built Fourier transform spectrometer (FTS) and high-power IDFG sources, to achieve high sensitivity and broad spectral coverage (2–11.5 µm). The lab collaborates with national and international partners across various sectors, including pollution monitoring, biomedical applications, agri-food industry, and emission/exposure measurements.
