About this position
The Institut Jean-Pierre Bourgin for Plant Sciences (IJPB-INRAE) in Versailles, France, is offering a fully funded PhD position in Plant Cell Imaging and Chromosome Biology as part of the EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network (MSCA DN 'AGILE'). The research will focus on understanding the mechanisms shaping meiotic prophase organization, specifically the structural basis and regulation of chromosome attachment to the nuclear envelope during meiosis in Arabidopsis thaliana. The project will utilize advanced super-resolution and live-cell imaging techniques, as well as molecular biology and plant genetics approaches, to study chromosome-nuclear envelope interactions and their impact on chromosome dynamics, recombination, and fertility.
The successful candidate will benefit from advanced training in microscopy, plant genetics, molecular biology, and scientific communication. The IJPB offers a vibrant scientific environment with state-of-the-art facilities, interdisciplinary expertise, and proximity to the Paris-Saclay research ecosystem. The position is funded for three years, with a gross salary of 4,735 €/month plus a 710 € mobility allowance.
Applicants should have a strong background in molecular biology and/or plant sciences, with excellent experimental and analytical skills. Experience in cytology or imaging is appreciated. Eligibility is subject to the MSCA mobility rule: candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to recruitment. The anticipated start date is Summer-Fall 2026. To apply, submit a cover letter, CV, and contact information for two to three references to Mathilde Grelon and Laurence Cromer at the provided emails.
