PhD Position in Structural and Functional Characterization of Photosynthetic Membrane Protein Complexes at Goethe University Frankfurt Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany

PhD position available at Goethe University Frankfurt within the Collaborative Research Center 1507 and its Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG). The project focuses on the structural and functional characterization of photosynthetic membrane protein complexes using structural biology, biochemistry, and biophysics, including cryo-EM and membrane protein reconstitution.

This opportunity is aimed at highly motivated applicants with a scientific master’s degree in biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, molecular biology, or a related field. Strong English skills, practical scientific experience, and a solid theoretical background are expected. The post emphasizes curiosity, creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary basic research in life sciences.

The position is offered as a PhD student / research assistant role for up to four years at E 13 TV-G-U, 65% part-time. The CRC/IRTG also offers training in research-relevant techniques, scientific writing and project management, mentoring by a Thesis Advisory Committee, travel funds, workshops, retreats, and networking opportunities with other research groups and international partners.
