About this position
A PhD project in chromosome biology and plant genome evolution will investigate how meiotic crossovers are formed and controlled when meiosis proceeds in an inverted order.
The research will focus on holocentric Rhynchospora, a plant system with distinctive chromosome organization. The doctoral researcher will combine genome editing, cytogenetics, microscopy and genomics to study crossover behavior and the mechanisms regulating recombination during meiosis.
The position is hosted at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne and is associated with the International Max Planck Research School Cologne. The project offers an interdisciplinary research environment at the intersection of meiosis, chromosome biology, microscopy and plant genome research, under the supervision of PI André Marques.
