About this position

PhD Research Fellow position in Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo, within the QSTAR – Centre for Quantum Computing and Applications.

QSTAR is a five-year research centre funded by the Research Council of Norway and hosted and led by SINTEF, with collaborators at UiO, NTNU, OsloMet, Simula Research Laboratory, and international partners at the University of Copenhagen and RISE in Sweden.

The centre spans four major research directions: fault tolerance and error correction; compilation and Hamiltonian engineering; foundations of quantum algorithms; and quantum algorithms for applications. The broader goal is to understand how quantum information can be protected, how quantum algorithms can be implemented, and where quantum computation may provide advantages, especially in chemistry and optimisation.

This is a full-time temporary PhD position in Norway, based in Oslo. The posting states that applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Mathematics. The application deadline is 15 November 2026 at 23:00 (Europe/Oslo).
