About this position

PIMS Postdoctoral Fellowship nomination at the University of Saskatchewan for a one-site or multi-site appointment within the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) network.

The University of Saskatchewan PIMS site in Saskatoon is inviting applications to be nominated for a PIMS Postdoctoral Fellowship. The fellowship sits within a broad mathematical and computational research network spanning institutions in western Canada and the northwestern United States, with opportunities to connect with researchers across the PIMS community.

The fellowship is designed to support an early-career researcher’s program in the mathematical sciences, with room for interdisciplinary work where it connects naturally to mathematics, statistics, or computation. The postdoctoral fellow will work under the guidance of one or more faculty mentors at the University of Saskatchewan and may also engage with other PIMS sites through seminars and collaborative activities.

The site highlights a range of potential mentors whose interests span algebra, geometry, topology, representation theory, quantum computing and quantum information, statistical and computational methods, biostatistics, longitudinal data analysis, causal inference, machine learning, applied combinatorics, stochastic modelling, quantum theory, and computational materials research. This makes the fellowship suitable for applicants whose work combines rigorous theory with data-driven or computational approaches.

The position is offered through a nomination process and is intended to connect the successful applicant with a mentor or mentors at the University of Saskatchewan PIMS site. The role emphasizes research development and broader engagement with the PIMS network, and it may include limited teaching depending on the arrangement and unit needs.

The University of Saskatchewan is located in Saskatoon, Canada, and the fellowship is embedded in its Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

Funding details

Base salary of 60,000 CAD per year; fellowship is for one year and renewable for at most one additional year, contingent on satisfactory performance.

What's required
