About this position
ESPCI Paris and the Institute of Porous Materials of Paris (IMAP) are offering a postdoctoral position in the synthesis, characterization, and scale-up of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and related composites for photocatalytic hydrogen production.
This position is part of SPARTE, a Horizon Europe research and innovation project involving 11 partners across Europe. The project aims to develop an innovative energy system integration paradigm centered on photocatalytic water splitting for green hydrogen fuel.
The successful candidate will work at IMAP, a joint ENS, ESPCI, and CNRS research unit within PSL University in Paris, collaborating closely with project partners across Europe. Main tasks include synthesizing pre-selected MOFs and MOF-based composites with inorganic active species and/or photosensitisers, characterizing the resulting solids by X-ray diffraction, porosimetry, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, optimizing synthesis and scaling up the best materials, and screening photocatalytic activity with team members.
The postdoctoral fellow will also contribute to reports, deliverables, and presentations for the EU project and participate in consortium meetings in France and Europe.
Eligibility highlights include a PhD or equivalent in chemistry or a related field, strong experience with hybrid porous materials, required knowledge of X-ray diffraction and gas sorption characterization, and a must-have background in photocatalysis. Strong English communication skills are required.
The appointment starts on 1 January 2027 for 12 months, with a possible extension. The salary is 2,500 to 3,200 Euros net per month depending on experience. Applications must be submitted by email before 15 November 2026.
