About this position
The Ohio State University is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar in Biomedical Engineering to join the Zierden Lab in Columbus, Ohio. The position centers on the study of how bacteria communicate with host tissues and how those interactions can be used for therapeutic purposes.
The successful researcher will lead projects on vaginal microbiome and bacterial extracellular vesicles, with a particular focus on how vaginal bacteria influence immune responses in the female reproductive tract. The role also involves probing bacterial function using multi-omics platforms and contributing to a broader interdisciplinary research program that connects engineering with medicine and other health-related fields.
The lab describes itself as a multidisciplinary team with access to cross-disciplinary facilities and collaborations across Ohio State’s schools of Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine. The postdoctoral scholar will work closely with the principal investigator and contribute to experiment design, sample processing and analysis, data interpretation, manuscript and abstract writing, progress reporting, grant preparation, and mouse colony and animal procedures.
This is a research-intensive opportunity for a scientist who can manage projects with minimal direction while contributing to a collaborative, translational environment focused on host-microbe interactions and biomedical applications.
