About this position
Postdoc (x2) and PhD (x1) positions are available in the Quantum Molecular Systems Group of Prof. Michał Tomza at the University of Warsaw.
The project, “Ultracold polar molecules for quantum technologies,” is funded by the Foundation for Polish Science within the European Funds for Smart Economy. The research sits at the intersection of theoretical atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics and quantum chemistry, with a strong emphasis on ultracold polar molecules in optical traps.
Research topics include ultracold chemistry, quantum computing and simulation, precision measurements, formation/dynamics/control of ultracold molecules in external fields, controlled collisions and chemical reactions, cold ion-atom-molecule mixtures, Feshbach resonances, accurate ab initio electronic structure calculations for small molecules, and quantum dynamics of few-body and many-body systems.
The group is looking for motivated candidates with extensive computational experience in molecular electronic structure calculations, especially excited states, relativistic effects, and multireference methods, and/or multichannel quantum scattering theory applied to atomic and molecular collisions.
Funding details: postdoc salary is approximately 15,000 PLN/month gross; PhD scholarship is approximately 9,000 PLN/month after taxes in total. The appointment duration is up to September 2029.
Application deadline: 2026-04-30. Applications should be sent to [email protected] and should include a cover letter, CV, transcript of records, and two recommendation contacts/names.
More information about the group is available at http://quantmol.uw.edu.pl.
