About this position
This postdoc at Amsterdam UMC is part of the Screen & Intervene (SCIN) project, which applies neurobiological and neuropsychological knowledge to forensic youth care. The project brings together data from young people with problem behaviour in justicial youth institutions and a forensic treatment centre, with the aim of improving diagnostics and treatment decisions in practice.
You will work with a multimodal dataset collected from more than 300 adolescents, including biological signals such as heart rate, skin conductance and hormone measures, alongside neuropsychological test results and psychosocial risk-screening data. The core of the role is to integrate, clean, analyse and model these complex data, then translate the findings into practical knowledge that can support professionals and young people.
The post is embedded in a collaborative national consortium involving universities, universities of applied sciences and societal partners. SCIN is part of NeurolabNL, a Dutch research environment focused on brain, cognition and behaviour. Within Amsterdam UMC, the work is carried out in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychosocial Care, section Risk Youth, where the research group studies neurobiological and psychosocial aspects of risky behaviour in adolescents with a particular focus on forensic psychiatry.
You will contribute to statistical modelling, machine-learning analyses, scientific publications and the development of visual and practical tools to make SCIN results usable in forensic treatment settings. The role also includes coordination of ongoing data collection and supervision of a research assistant and interns, in close collaboration with researchers, professionals and young people across the consortium.
The project is situated in an interdisciplinary environment at Amsterdam UMC Research BV, with close links to Radboud University, Leiden University, the Dutch Institute for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychology, justice youth institutions and Trajectum.
