About this position
Postdoctoral position at the University of Arizona in DNS of boundary-layer transition and control.
The project uses high-fidelity Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) to study stability, laminar-turbulent transition, and breakdown mechanisms in hypersonic boundary layers at M = 4 to 14. A second focus is the investigation of promising flow control methods using DNS. The work is centered on fundamental fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and computational fluid dynamics, with opportunities to contribute to code development as well as flow-physics research.
Validated in-house linear stability and DNS codes are available, and candidates with an interest in improving or extending the code base are encouraged to apply. Useful background includes high-performance computing, programming experience (e.g. C, Python, Fortran), and familiarity with CFD tools such as OpenFOAM, SU2, Fluent, or US3D.
The position is open to international applicants. The closing date is 2027-08-01. To apply, contact Hermann Fasel by email and mention CFD Jobs Database record #20137.
