The position is designed for researchers interested in educational sociology, educational inequality, social inequality, family processes, and the intergenerational transmission of inequality. The successful candidate will conduct independent research on educational processes across the life course and contribute to ongoing projects in the professorship, including work on educational inequality, family complexity, and bio-social approaches.
This is a research-and-teaching postdoc with a strong empirical component. The role includes publishing in international journals, contributing to third-party funding applications, supervising students, and taking part in organizational tasks. Teaching responsibilities amount to 2–4 semester hours per week in educational sociology and empirical social research.
Eligibility highlights include an excellent doctorate in sociology, education, demography, or a closely related field; a strong research profile in one or more of the target areas; interest in bio-social perspectives on education and inequality processes; and excellent knowledge of quantitative methods, especially longitudinal or register-data analysis. Candidates should also have first publications in international journals or advanced manuscripts, strong teamwork and initiative, and excellent English. German is desirable.
The appointment is 80–100%, initially limited to three years, with the possibility of extension for another three years after positive evaluation.
