About this position

Chalmers University of Technology is offering a postdoc in electrocatalysis at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in Gothenburg, Sweden. The work also includes in situ characterization at synchrotron facilities, making this a strong opportunity for a researcher interested in catalyst design, structure–property relationships, and advanced analytical methods.

The position sits within an international research environment spanning fundamental chemistry, materials science, renewable energy, chemical engineering, material recycling, nuclear chemistry, theory, and modelling. The role is clearly research-intensive and suited to candidates with a background in chemistry or materials science and experience in electrocatalysis. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in chemistry or materials science, or an equivalent foreign degree, and should have strong English communication skills, be independent, collaborative, creative, and familiar with standard catalysis characterization methods and inorganic synthesis.

Experience with single atom catalysts, CO2 electrolyzer testing, and in situ methods such as XAS, IR, and Raman is particularly valued. The postdoc will synthesize electrocatalysts, run electrocatalytic tests in CO2 electrolyzers and/or rotating disk electrode setups, and contribute to internal and external meetings and conferences. The role may also involve limited supervision of master’s and/or PhD students.

Contractually, this is a temporary full-time employment for two years with a possible one-year extension. Physical presence is required for the duration of employment, and a valid residence permit must be shown by the start date.
