About this position

Postdoc opportunity at Aarhus University in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics – Cellular Health for a project on extracellular vesicle bioimaging and Brainbow-inspired rainbow-coloured vesicles. The work is embedded in the research group led by Associate Professor Yuya Hayashi, whose lab focuses on extracellular vesicle biology, RNA nanotechnology, and zebrafish-based models.

The project aims to develop innovative approaches for single-particle tracking and advanced imaging of extracellular vesicles. Research methods include cell culture, zebrafish embryos, genetic engineering, live embryo imaging, super-resolution imaging, and image analysis. The postdoc will contribute to high-quality research, publication, collaboration with colleagues working on extracellular vesicles and advanced bioimaging, and supervision of Bachelor, Master, and PhD students.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in a relevant field such as Molecular Biology or Cell Biology; a strong publication or research track record in advanced bioimaging or extracellular vesicle biology; and, ideally, experience with super-resolution microscopy, confocal/light-sheet microscopy of zebrafish embryos, plasmid construction/transfection, and animal models. Strong communication skills, collaboration, ambition, and fluency in English are expected. International candidates do not need Danish.

Funding: the position is funded by the Villum Foundation through the Villum Experiment grant From Genesis to Terminus: Rainbow-Painting of Extracellular Vesicles for Single-Particle Tracking. This is a 2-year full-time fixed-term postdoc position.

Deadline: 28 October 2026 at 23:59 CET. Location: Aarhus C, Denmark.

How to apply: use the Aarhus University application portal and submit the application before the deadline. For questions, contact Yuya Hayashi at [email protected].
