University of Wisconsin–Madison is recruiting a Postdoc / Research Associate in Quantitative Genetics in the Comparative Genetics and Orthopaedic Research Lab at the School of Veterinary Medicine.
The project focuses on multi-ancestry prediction of cruciate ligament rupture using a novel Bayesian mixture / Bayesian probit model, with translational work involving dogs, horses, and humans. The research also includes polygenic risk scores, SNP data, Bayesian regression, machine learning, and deep learning, plus related work in companion animal health and veterinary diagnostic imaging AI.
Ideal applicants have a PhD in quantitative genetics, animal science, or a related field, and experience with Bayesian regression and SNP marker data. The postdoc will work closely with Peter Muir and Susannah Sample, both veterinary clinician-scientists, and collaborate with other quantitative genetics investigators at UW–Madison.
Funding is provided through the Companion Animal Fund of the School of Veterinary Medicine, the American Rottweiler Club, and laboratory donations. The listed salary is $63,480 at 100% appointment.
