University of Wisconsin–Madison is recruiting a Postdoc / Research Associate in Quantitative Genetics in the Comparative Genetics and Orthopaedic Research Lab at the School of Veterinary Medicine. The project focuses on multi-ancestry prediction of cruciate ligament rupture using a novel Bayesian mixture / Bayesian probit model , with translational work involving dogs, horses, and humans . The research also includes polygenic risk scores , SNP data , Bayesian regression , machine learning , and deep learning , plus related work in companion animal health and veterinary diagnostic imaging AI. Ideal applicants have a PhD in quantitative genetics, animal science, or a related field , and experience with Bayesian regression and SNP marker data . The postdoc will work closely with Peter Muir and Susannah Sample , both veterinary clinician-scientists, and collaborate with other quantitative genetics investigators at UW–Madison. Funding is provided through the Companion Animal Fund of the School of Veterinary Medicine, the American Rottweiler Club , and laboratory donations. The listed salary is $63,480 at 100% appointment.
