About this position

The University of Barcelona is offering a postdoctoral position in Neuroimmunology and Translational Psychiatry, supervised by Dr. Albert Giralt Torroella. This role is based in the Neural Plasticity in Neurological and Neuropsychiatric Diseases laboratory within the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biomedicine. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research focused on the neuro-immune mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders, utilizing both cell culture and post-mortem samples.

Key responsibilities include developing and analyzing cell culture models of psychiatric disorders, performing histological and advanced confocal microscopy studies on brain tissue and fixed cultures, and conducting complex analyses of rodent behavior through video and recording review. The postdoc will also be responsible for advanced statistical analyses, interpretation of results, and preparation of scientific reports. Regular participation in team meetings and collaboration with the supervisor are expected.

The position offers a full-time contract (37.5 hours per week) with a salary of 6,900€ for a three-month period (2,300€ per month). The anticipated start date is January 1, 2026, though this may be adjusted based on administrative requirements. The application deadline is November 28, 2026.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in Neurosciences or a related discipline and demonstrate expertise in molecular, biochemical, histological, and microscopy techniques, as well as mouse behavior analysis. Excellent proficiency in English and native-level Spanish are required. While not mandatory, indexed publications in relevant fields are highly valued. The selection process is competitive, with candidates evaluated on CV suitability, doctoral specialty, motivation, experience, and specific merits. Priority is given to candidates with disabilities in accordance with Spanish law.
