About this position
Aix-Marseille University’s Mesopolhis Lab is recruiting a postdoc for the project “Mediterranean Dreaming: Tourism Massification and Migration in Maritime Cities.” The project investigates how tourism massification and migration are reshaping Mediterranean cities, how municipalities regulate these dynamics through urban policies and planning, and how residents experience the social and economic consequences. It also examines the imaginaries of the Mediterranean city emerging from official policies and grassroots movements.
The successful candidate will carry out original ethnographic and qualitative research in Barcelona as part of a comparative study involving Marseille, Barcelona, and Vlora. The postdoc will join a wider research team and work closely with the principal investigator through bi-weekly meetings and monthly team meetings. Responsibilities include organizing international workshops, leading the Barcelona workshop, contributing to the project blog and data repository, and helping disseminate findings through publications and conference presentations.
The appointment is for 1 year with the possibility of renewal for 1 additional year. The salary is stated as €2,616.35/month gross, depending on qualification and experience. The position is based at Aix-Marseille University / Mesopolhis Research Lab in France, with the research focus on Barcelona and broader Mediterranean urban transformations.
