About this position
Argonne National Laboratory’s Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee for research on the ultrafast dynamics of MXene materials in Lemont, Illinois, United States.
The appointee will investigate the ultrafast electronic, structural, and nonequilibrium dynamics of MXenes using advanced spectroscopy and microscopy. Techniques may include transient photoelectron spectroscopy, transient absorption spectroscopy, ultrafast emission measurements, ultrafast electron microscopy, and ultrafast cathodoluminescence. The researcher will also help develop transient photoelectron spectroscopy and related ultrafast measurement capabilities, including novel instrumentation.
Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD obtained within the last 0–5 years in experimental physics, chemistry, engineering, materials science, or an equivalent discipline. Experience in ultrafast spectroscopy, nonlinear optics, time-resolved X-ray, electron, or optical microscopy is required. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are expected. Experience with scientific data analysis, scripting, instrumentation control, scientific user facilities, or ultrafast instrument development is preferred.
This is a full-time, long-term fixed-term postdoctoral appointment. The expected hiring range is $72,879–$121,465, with comprehensive employee benefits. Applicants should submit a CV or resume, one relevant published work, an unofficial PhD transcript, and contact information for three professional references through the Argonne Workday application portal.
