About this position

The Eric and Wendy Schmidt Center at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is recruiting postdoctoral associates for interdisciplinary research at the interface of AI, statistics, applied mathematics, and biomedical science.

The center’s mission is to develop theoretical, computational, and algorithmic paradigms that help explain biological programs across scales, from proteins to cells to tissues and organisms. The role focuses on novel computational and algorithmic methods, with particular interest in the mathematical foundations of which algorithms are best suited to biological applications and why.

Applicants may come from Computer Science, Engineering, (Bio)Statistics, or related fields. Strong analytical and scientific writing skills are required, as is the ability to communicate effectively with both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Prior exposure to biology or medicine is helpful but not mandatory.

Postdoctoral associates will independently choose computational and biomedical mentors from Broad-, MIT-, or Harvard-affiliated faculty. The appointment is for one year starting on or after July 1, 2027, with possible renewal for a second and third year based on performance. The Broad Institute will provide visa sponsorship.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis after December 22, 2026. Full consideration requires a CV, cover letter, a research statement of up to three pages with references, and the names and email addresses of three or more referees. Questions can be directed to [email protected].
