About this position

Postdoctoral Associate opportunity in Cardiac Physiology and Functional Genomics at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine and UConn Health in Farmington, Connecticut, with the Hinson Lab.

The lab is seeking an independent, highly motivated PhD-level scientist to study the mechanisms of inherited heart failure and other muscle disorders. Research combines human pluripotent stem cell biology, tissue engineering, genome editing, and multi-omics to understand how genetic variants disrupt heart function and to develop therapies that correct them.

Possible projects include cardiac physiology in 3D engineered heart tissue (EHT) models, mouse models of heart failure, large-scale in vivo genetic perturbation using pooled Perturb-seq-style approaches, and sarcomere assembly and function in collaboration with an international network of scientists.

Required background includes a PhD or equivalent in cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, genetics, bioengineering, or a related field. Strong experience in at least one of stem cell differentiation, cardiac or muscle physiology, mouse disease models, CRISPR genome editing, or single-cell genomics is expected. Advanced imaging, protein-protein interaction studies, or sequencing-data computation are a plus.

Applicants should submit a CV, at least two letters of reference, and a 1-page research interests and career goals statement. The posting lists postdoc salary by experience level, ranging from $65,589 to $75,569. No deadline is stated in the post.

Keywords: cardiac physiology, functional genomics, heart failure, muscle disorders, stem cell biology, genome editing, multi-omics, bioengineering, genetics.
