About this position
The University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking two Postdoctoral Associates, appointed as Assistant Scientists, to join the laboratories of Dr. Anna Lasorella and Dr. Antonio Iavarone in Miami, United States.
The program focuses on experimental neuro-oncology, including the molecular genetics and biology of brain tumors and the characterization and therapeutic targeting of driver mutations involved in malignant brain tumor development and progression. Research areas include glioblastoma, cancer genomics, molecular and cellular biology, protein biochemistry, pharmacology, bioinformatics, and systems biology.
Researchers use next-generation DNA/RNA sequencing, single-cell RNA and ATAC sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, patient-derived glioma organoids and xenografts, engineered mouse brain tumor models, mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, and intracranial tumor procedures. The laboratories combine bench research with computational approaches to investigate tumor biology and develop rational therapeutic strategies.
Applicants should hold a PhD or medical degree and have at least one year of relevant research experience. Preferred backgrounds include cancer biology, pharmacology, bioinformatics, cancer genomics, developmental biology, immunology, or neuroscience, along with peer-reviewed publications and practical experience in molecular biology, cell-based assays, sequencing, and rodent procedures. The position requires careful record keeping, technical adaptability, independent work, teamwork, and strong scientific communication.
This is a full-time, on-site position at the University of Miami/UHealth campus. The appointment offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including medical and dental coverage and tuition remission. Mentoring is available for postdoctoral fellowship grant applications.
