About this position

Politecnico di Milano is offering one postdoctoral contract in the Department of Energy at the Bovisa campus. The project is centered on catalytic processes for the synthesis of low-carbon fuels, combining literature analysis, simulation, mathematical modelling, and experimental work.

The researcher will work on processes for producing fuels from CO and green hydrogen, with attention to renewable fuel pathways and to the development of e-fuels, e-chemicals, and bio-fuels. The experimental component includes the synthesis and characterisation of catalysts and activity testing at laboratory, pilot, and potentially industrial scale. The project also explicitly includes biological processes and the possible use of micro-organisms alongside catalytic systems.

The position sits within the academic discipline of chemical plants and technologies and is framed as research activity together with teaching support and third-mission engagement in the same area. The environment is therefore strongly interdisciplinary, spanning chemical technology, catalysis, process development, and scale-up considerations for low-carbon fuel production.

The contract duration is 36 months, and the postdoctoral holder will contribute to research, teaching-related activity, and third-mission work connected to the same research themes.

Funding details

Overall gross remuneration of Euro 114000 for 36 months, paid in equal monthly instalments; employer-borne charges excluded.
