About this position
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Genetic Epidemiology at the HUNT Center for Molecular and Clinical Epidemiology (HUNT MCE) in Trondheim, Norway. The fellow will join the Genetic Epidemiology research group in a multidisciplinary environment combining genetic, molecular, and clinical epidemiology.
The project investigates maternal health, pregnancy, and child health using large, genotyped population cohorts, including HUNT, MoBa, UK Biobank, and ALSPAC. Research will examine how maternal exposures during pregnancy relate to pregnancy outcomes and child health, including growth and later childhood outcomes. The specific exposures and outcomes will be refined with the successful candidate in light of current literature and the group's collaborations.
The fellow will conduct population- and family-based genetic epidemiology analyses, including genome-wide association studies, and apply causal-inference approaches such as Mendelian randomization. The work will also contribute to family-based and intergenerational methods, interpretation of findings with clinical experts, and collaborative analyses with national and international partners.
The role offers involvement in the international MR-PREG collaboration on Mendelian randomization in pregnancy, with links to the University of Bristol, the University of Queensland, and other research partners. Activities include publishing in international peer-reviewed journals, contributing to popular science dissemination, attending conferences or research stays abroad, and participating in the Genetic Epidemiology group at HUNT MCE.
NTNU provides an international and inclusive research environment, career guidance, a postdoctoral career plan, mentoring, and opportunities to develop a researcher profile suitable for future academic progression.
