About this position
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in machine learning, computer vision, image analysis, and computational pathology. The position is based in Baltimore, United States, within the Department of Dermatology.
The fellow will develop and apply computational approaches to digital pathology and cancer research, including supervised and deep learning for whole-slide image analysis, tumor and tissue segmentation, classification, spatial analysis, and quantitative biomarker development. Projects may integrate H&E, immunohistochemistry, multiplex immunofluorescence, clinical data, molecular data, and other spatial imaging modalities to support precision oncology and translational research.
Responsibilities include developing and validating machine learning models, building reproducible pipelines for large-scale image analysis, processing gigapixel pathology images, collaborating with pathologists and clinical investigators, interpreting complex imaging and clinical datasets, preparing manuscripts and grant applications, presenting research, and mentoring graduate students or research staff as appropriate.
Applicants must hold a PhD in machine learning, computer science, computational biology, or a closely related field and have strong hands-on experience training deep neural networks. Experience with Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, image classification or segmentation, whole-slide image tools such as OpenSlide, QuPath, or ASAP, convolutional architectures, and version-controlled computational workflows is required. Experience in digital pathology, spatial biology, computational oncology, multimodal image analysis, modern computer vision, high-performance computing, or cloud analysis is desirable.
The full-time fellowship offers a salary of $63,480–$77,076 depending on current PGY level, along with Johns Hopkins total rewards benefits. The role is open until filled. Applications should be submitted through the Interfolio portal.
