About this position
Multiple postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the Shinde Lab at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, within the Microbiomes Institute. The project focuses on the gut microbiome–metabolism–immunity–cancer axis, with an emphasis on how microbial and host metabolic signals shape tumor-associated macrophage and T-cell function in pancreatic cancer and affect therapeutic response.
The lab’s interdisciplinary research combines microbiology, immunology, immunometabolism, multi-omics, mouse models, and organoids, with access to patient-derived materials through collaborations with Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute. The position is supported by two newly funded NCI R01 grants.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent, or be close to completing one, in biomedical sciences or a related field. Strong experience in gut microbiome research is especially valued, including bacterial culture, microbial genetics, and/or CRISPR-based editing. Backgrounds in immunology, cancer biology, macrophage biology, immunometabolism, microbial metabolism, mouse modeling, flow cytometry, cell culture, microscopy, mouse surgery, scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and bioinformatics are highly desirable.
Fellows will receive dedicated mentorship in a collaborative environment, with opportunities to lead manuscripts, develop independent projects, present at conferences, and pursue fellowship and grant funding. This is a strong fit for candidates aiming for careers in academia, industry, or biomedical research.
To apply, submit the online application and email Dr. Rahul Shinde with a cover letter, CV, and contact details for three references. Optional reprints of two representative publications may also be included. Closing date: 28 Dec 2026.
