About this position
The University of Texas at Austin is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow in mRNA lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) and mechanical engineering within the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Cockrell School of Engineering. Based in Austin, Texas, the fellow will lead research connecting the internal structure of mRNA lipid nanoparticles with biological performance and will establish design principles for improved therapeutic delivery.
Research activities include LNP assembly and characterization in collaboration with research partners, data analysis, modeling, and development of design rules. The fellow will also mentor graduate and undergraduate students and contribute to scientific communication through publications, presentations, and collaborative project work.
Candidates must have received a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field within the past three years. Demonstrated experience with small-angle scattering, soft matter characterization, and/or physical chemistry involving lipid, polymer, or biological materials is required. Preferred experience includes hands-on SAXS work, SAXS analysis software such as BioXTAS RAW, SasView, or Irena/Nika, and research on lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, polymersomes, or related soft nanoparticle systems.
This is a full-time position with a salary of $63,537, expected to continue until December 31, 2027. Applicants should submit a resume or CV, letter of interest, and contact details for three work references, including at least one supervisor, through the University of Texas at Austin Workday portal.
