About this position
Colorado State University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow for the RISE Hub within the Advanced Lasers for Extreme Photonics Center (ALEPH) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The project centers on optics, optical materials, optical diagnostics, optical metrology, dielectric coatings, and laser-materials interactions, with applications to inertial fusion drivers and high-power laser systems.
The successful candidate will plan and implement experiments to develop optical metrologies that detect changes in coating properties under intense illumination. The role also includes designing and testing dielectric coatings with improved lifetime and laser-damage performance, analyzing data, contributing to reports and proposals, publishing in high-impact journals, and working closely with RISE Hub industry participants and collaborators.
Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline. Strong experience in optical metrology and lasers is required. Preferred experience includes optical diagnostic instrumentation, laser-materials interaction studies, programming, and AI/ML tools.
Location: Fort Collins, Colorado, United States, at Colorado State University’s Foothills campus. Funding: full-time postdoctoral employment with a salary range of 68000 and employee benefits.
Application: apply in Workday by uploading a resume/CV. The posting indicates full consideration is extended until the position is filled.
