About this position
Hiro Morishita’s lab at the Friedman Brain Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow in systems neuroscience and cognitive circuit development. The project will investigate neuromodulatory mechanisms that shape the maturation and function of frontal cognitive control circuits.
A possible research direction builds on the lab’s recent discoveries of frontal–sensory cognitive circuit mechanisms, creating opportunities to pursue innovative questions and develop new research directions. The research environment focuses on how developing neural circuits support cognition, attention, adaptive behavior, and the function of the frontal brain.
The lab also studies frontal cholinergic circuit mechanisms involved in breaking cycles of cognitive performance failure. Postdoctoral research may involve systems-level investigation of neuromodulatory inputs, frontal–sensory interactions, and the neural basis of developing minds, with in vivo electrophysiology identified as a desired area of experience.
