About this position
The University of Hong Kong invites applications for several Postdoctoral Fellow positions in peptide chemistry and bioconjugation within the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine, and the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
The research focuses on designing, synthesizing, and chemically modifying peptide therapeutics and related biomolecules, including peptide conjugates, cyclic peptides, and next-generation peptide-based drug modalities. Fellows will operate and maintain automated peptide synthesizers and other platforms for synthesis, purification, characterization, and analysis. They will also establish reproducible workflows for peptide production, conjugation, quality control, and analytical characterization, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on peptide- and antibody-based drug development programs.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Peptide Chemistry, or a closely related field. Strong practical experience in peptide synthesis, purification, characterization, chemical modification, synthetic-route development, conjugation chemistry, and analytical methods is required. Experience in antibody conjugation, protein engineering, or antibody-drug conjugate development is advantageous.
The appointment is full-time and requires 5.5 working days per week. It will begin as soon as possible for 1–3 years, with renewal potentially available subject to performance and funding. The package includes a competitive salary, annual leave, medical benefits, and free access to campus gyms and libraries. Applications are accepted online through the University of Hong Kong Careers site until December 31, 2026, or until the posts are filled.

What's required
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Peptide Chemistry, or a closely related discipline. Candidates must be able to independently operate peptide synthesis instruments and related characterization technologies and have hands-on experience in peptide synthesis, purification, characterization, and chemical modification. Experience developing and optimizing synthetic routes, conjugation chemistries, and analytical methods for peptide or protein therapeutics is required. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are expected. Preference will be given to candidates with key technical experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or peptide/bioconjugation technology companies, or experience in antibody conjugation, bioconjugation chemistry, protein engineering, or antibody-drug conjugate development.
How to apply
Apply online through the University of Hong Kong Careers site and upload an up-to-date CV. Applications will be reviewed from October 7, 2026, until December 31, 2026, or until the positions are filled, whichever is earlier.
