About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow opportunity at The University of Hong Kong in the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine, for research in antiviral drug discovery and RNA-targeted therapeutics.

The project focuses on developing small-molecule approaches to target conserved viral RNA elements. The successful candidate will contribute to viral RNA target analysis, RNA structure modeling, virtual screening, compound prioritization, small-molecule design, assay development, and early-stage drug discovery.

Strong interdisciplinary preparation is welcomed across medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, RNA biology, RNA structural biology, computational chemistry, cheminformatics, and AI-assisted virtual drug screening. Experience with RNA-targeted therapeutics, molecular docking, RNA binding assays, structure–activity relationship analysis, or computational drug discovery is especially advantageous.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, RNA biology, computational chemistry, or a related discipline. The role also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

The appointment is full-time for one to two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. The post offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, together with annual leave and medical benefits.

Applications must be submitted online via the university portal with an up-to-date CV. Review begins as soon as possible and continues until 2026-12-31, or until the post is filled.
