About this position
Postdoctoral candidate opportunity at the Technical University of Munich / Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology at TUM (Leibniz-LSB@TUM) in Germany.
The working group Molecular Modeling / Section III is seeking 1 post-doctoral fellow for a 2-year position starting 01/12/2026. The project sits at the intersection of computational biophysics, structural biology, bioinformatics, molecular dynamics, machine learning, and protein structure prediction.
Research focus: using recently solved olfactory receptor structures for structure-based ligand design, developing prediction methods to identify new food-derived modulators of olfactory receptors, and uncovering the molecular basis of olfactory perception. The project is closely linked with experimental groups at the institute.
Key tasks include molecular dynamics simulations, enhanced sampling simulations, AI-based protein structure prediction and cofolding, machine-learning-guided virtual screening, organizational tasks, and grant writing.
Ideal applicants should have a strong background in computational biophysics and data analysis, solid English skills, and preferably experience with G protein-coupled receptors or membrane proteins. The post emphasizes self-motivation, independence, teamwork, and organizational ability.
Funding: salary according to TV-L (up to EG 14, depending on qualification), plus benefits such as training, health promotion, work-life balance support, flexible working, home office options, pension scheme, and annual bonus.
How to apply: email a PDF application with CV, transcripts, and three references to [email protected], quoting reference number 2026-15-MM-ADP. Contact person for questions: Prof. Dr. Antonella Di Pizio ([email protected]).
