About this position
EPFL’s Artificial Intelligence in Molecular Medicine (AIMM) Lab is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for frontier research in generative AI and foundation models. The lab is led by Prof. Charlotte Bunne and is affiliated with the School of Computer and Communication Sciences, the School of Life Sciences, and the EPFL AI Center.
The position is highly methodological and focuses on developing new generative modeling approaches, scalable training algorithms, and foundation model technologies. Research directions include diffusion models, flow matching, autoregressive models, normalizing flows, multimodal learning, scalable fine-tuning, evaluation, deployment, and AI for scientific discovery. The post comes with dedicated access to the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre and the Swiss AI Initiative, and offers opportunities for collaboration across AI, science, and industry.
Applicants should have a PhD in machine learning, computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, or a closely related field, completed or near completion. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in generative AI, strong programming skills, experience with modern deep learning frameworks, experience with large-scale or distributed training, and a strong publication record. Prior experience with biological or biomedical data is not required.
The role is a full-time postdoc (activity rate 100%) with a competitive EPFL salary and full social benefits. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. To apply, send a CV, a brief 1-page statement of research interests, and the names of two references. More information is available at aimm.epfl.ch.
