About this position
The Department of Mathematics at Dartmouth College is recruiting a full-time residential postdoctoral fellow for the Jack Byrne Academic Cluster in Mathematics and Decision Science. The appointment is designed to bring the fellow into an interdisciplinary research environment spanning mathematics, decision science, and collaborations across Dartmouth.
The postdoctoral scholar will join one or more research teams associated with the cluster, working alongside Dimitris Giannakis, Peter Mucha, and James Smith, and engaging with broader data- and decision-science activity across the College. The advertised research themes include climate monitoring and forecasting, dynamical systems, decision analysis and dynamic programming, and network science, with applications reaching into energy, engineering, business, behavioral science, and biomedical science.
Dartmouth describes the Department of Mathematics as having a strong PhD program, a sizable tenured and tenure-track faculty, and collaborative connections across campus. The postdoctoral scholar will be part of this environment within the School of Arts and Sciences, with support from the Guarini School for Graduate and Advanced Studies for postdoctoral scholars and graduate students. The position also emphasizes contributions to Dartmouth’s undergraduate research initiatives in STEM and values applicants who can participate in an inclusive, collaborative academic community.
The appointment is intended to run for two to three years, with opportunities to teach depending on departmental need and qualification.
