About this position

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow for the Kulkarni Lab in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care, focused on pulmonary disease, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, and microbiology.

The project investigates how local innate immune responses, including the complement system, influence the severity of bacterial pneumonia and how epithelial cell-derived proteins may help reduce the risk of acute lung injury and end-stage lung disease. The lab uses conditional knockout mouse models, primary epithelial cell lines, flow cytometry, ELISA, protein and DNA-based molecular biology, biochemistry, cell/tissue culture, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, and DNA/RNA sequencing.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences or a related field. Required experience includes standard cell biology techniques, murine in vivo models, microscopy, and flow cytometry. Experience in molecular biology or structural biology is preferred.

This is an NIH-funded postdoctoral position. The salary estimate is $69,073-$82,836 per year. The job location is Los Angeles, CA, United States.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis after the open date of August 14, 2026. For full consideration, apply by September 14, 2026. Final applications are accepted until December 30, 2026.

To apply, submit materials through the UCLA Recruit portal and include a current CV. Contact the hiring department at [email protected] if needed.
