About this position
University of Copenhagen is advertising a two-year Postdoctoral Position in Science Education Research in the Department of Science Education, starting preferably 1 February 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The post is part of the ACCESS project, Augmenting the STEM Classroom by ESS Digital Twins, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. ACCESS is a collaboration between the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), and the European Spallation Source (ESS), led by Professor Luise Theil Kuhn (DTU Energy, PI) with the postdoc work led at UCPH by Associate Professor Jesper Bruun (co-PI).
The research focuses on science education, STEM teaching, digital twins, virtual experiments, and design-based research. The postdoc will co-create research-based learning materials, support implementation of digital twins in teaching, collect and analyse data from course implementations, and publish findings on student learning, conceptual understanding, and transfer of knowledge and skills.
The project includes work with neutron-scattering-related teaching modules, including a specialist course in Physics and Nanoscience and a broader neutron/X-ray course for non-specialists. The role involves collaboration with neutron scientists, university teachers, a PhD student at DTU Learning Lab, and two other postdocs developing the digital twins.
