About this position
The University of Copenhagen is offering two postdoctoral positions focused on Generative AI in education, educational psychology, and university teaching. These positions are based at the Virtual Learning Lab (Department of Psychology) and the Department of Science Education, both of which are dynamic research environments at the intersection of digitalization, learning sciences, and educational technology.
The first postdoctoral position is part of the Carlsberg Foundation funded project 'Generative AI in Education: From Offloading to Cognitive Understanding in Schools (FOCUS).' The successful candidate will conduct experimental research on generative AI and learning processes, utilizing multimethod process measures such as EEG, eye tracking, interaction logs, and physiological data to investigate cognitive and self-regulatory processes during structured learning tasks. The role involves designing and implementing preregistered laboratory experiments, advanced quantitative data analysis, and contributing to open science workflows. The position is heavily research-oriented, with limited teaching and administrative duties.
The second postdoctoral position is affiliated with the CRAFT project at the Department of Science Education. This project explores the integration of Generative AI into higher education teaching, aiming to support university teachers in designing, implementing, and evaluating GenAI-supported learning activities. The postdoc will contribute to the development, implementation, and analysis of GenAI-supported teaching interventions, working closely with interdisciplinary teams and university teachers. The research combines educational design research with qualitative and practice-based methodologies, focusing on the pedagogical implications of GenAI in higher education.
Both positions require a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Educational Psychology, Science Education, Human–Computer Interaction, Educational Data Science, NLP) and demonstrated experience in educational research, advanced data analysis, and open science practices. Experience with process measures (EEG, eye tracking, learning analytics), design-based research, and interdisciplinary collaboration is highly valued. Excellent English communication skills are essential.
The positions are fully funded for two years, with a starting monthly salary of 39,200 DKK (approx. 5,200 EUR) and an additional 18.07% pension contribution. International applicants may be eligible for tax reductions. The University of Copenhagen offers a supportive and inclusive work environment, with resources for international researchers and their families.
Applications must be submitted online in English, including a motivated application, CV, diplomas, publication list, and up to three selected publications. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2026. For further information, contact Professor Guido Makransky ([email protected]), Professor Morten Misfeldt ([email protected]), or Associate Professor Kirsten Jørgensen ([email protected]).
