About this position
Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Sweden is recruiting 1-2 postdoctoral researchers for the KI Psychiatric Genomics Institute (KI-PGI) at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, campus Solna, Stockholm.
The project sits at the intersection of psychiatric genomics, data science, psychiatric epidemiology, biostatistics, genetics, and public health. The research aims to understand the development, progression, and outcomes of psychiatric disorders by integrating large-scale epidemiological, clinical, genomic, and health-register data. Methods mentioned include statistical modelling, machine learning, genetic epidemiology, GWAS, PRS analyses, and family-based study designs.
The positions are part of an NIH-funded, full-time, fixed-term appointment for two years with the possibility of extension. The work environment is highly collaborative and includes interaction with the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium and Nordic collaborators. The postdoctoral researchers will contribute to data management, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, and presentation of findings.
Eligibility requires a PhD or equivalent degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, data science, genetics, psychiatry, or a related field. Strong programming skills in R, Python, SAS, Stata, or similar are expected, along with experience in large and complex datasets, reproducible research, and scientific writing. Experience with psychiatric epidemiology, Swedish national registers, UK Biobank, Linux/SQL/Bash, machine learning, prediction modelling, and causal inference is an advantage.
Application materials must be submitted in English or Swedish via the Varbi recruitment system. Required documents include a PhD certificate, a complete CV/resumé, a publication list, and a one-page summary of current work. Deadline: 2026-10-30.
