About this position
The Center for Implementation Research in Acute and Emergency Care (CIRCA) at Washington University in St. Louis Department of Emergency Medicine is recruiting a postdoctoral research associate to join an interdisciplinary program focused on implementation science in acute and emergency care settings.
This position centers on research that improves infectious disease prevention, screening, testing, diagnosis, linkage to care, and treatment engagement for patients seen in the Emergency Department and related acute care environments. The work may address HIV, HCV, syphilis, and other conditions that can be addressed during an emergency care visit.
The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with CIRCA faculty and collaborators on studies that connect scientific evidence with clinical practice and public health priorities. The research program includes clinical, observational, qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches, with opportunities to help evaluate how evidence-informed interventions are adopted and sustained in real-world settings.
Responsibilities include contributing to hybrid effectiveness-implementation studies and pragmatic trials, leading data collection and analysis, examining implementation outcomes, and helping interpret mechanisms that shape program effectiveness. The role also involves manuscript preparation, conference presentations, grant development, and participation in collaborative research with clinical, community, domestic, and international partners.
The center is a newly established research environment building foundational work across community and clinical contexts, offering an opportunity to develop an independent research agenda under faculty mentorship while contributing to projects that improve health outcomes in emergency and acute care.
