About this position
Washington University in St. Louis is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Kotov Lab at the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Supported by a recently funded NIH DP2 award, the position focuses on cellular immunology and the innate immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), the leading cause of death from a single pathogen worldwide.
Available projects investigate host responses to Mtb infection, with emphasis on plasmacytoid dendritic cells, macrophages, and neutrophils, with the goal of identifying targets for host-directed therapies. The work is primarily laboratory-based and uses mouse models in an animal BSL3 facility. Techniques include flow cytometry, microscopy, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and basic bioinformatics analysis.
Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree. Motivated, independent, and collegial candidates are encouraged to apply. Experience with mice, flow cytometry, and microscopy is desirable, while previous BSL3 experience is not required. Transcriptomic data analysis experience, particularly with single-cell RNA-sequencing datasets, is an advantage. Responsibilities include leading research projects, mentoring junior researchers, collaborating nationally and internationally, presenting at conferences, and writing manuscripts.
This is a full-time, on-campus position. Base pay is commensurate with experience, and postdoctoral appointments are eligible for Washington University benefits. The appointment has a five-year term limit including previous postdoctoral experience. Applications should be submitted through the university's Workday portal.
