About this position

Texas A&M AgriLife Research is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Entomology in College Station, Texas. The project focuses on gene-drive efficiency, DNA-repair pathway usage, transgene removal, and genome engineering in Drosophila melanogaster and Aedes aegypti.

The researcher will design and conduct experiments involving CRISPR/Cas9 constructs, guide RNAs, donor plasmids, direct-repeat systems, gene-drive braking strategies, genetic crosses, embryo injections, transgenic-line screening, fluorescence-based phenotyping, and molecular validation. Responsibilities also include PCR, genotyping, HRMA, Sanger and nanopore sequencing, analysis of homing, end-joining, single-strand annealing, indel and resistant-allele frequencies, and interpretation of chromosomal-position effects.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain genetically modified insect lines, conduct inheritance and population studies, document experiments, analyze quantitative genetic and molecular data, prepare figures and reports, and contribute to manuscripts, grants, conference abstracts, and collaborative research. All work must follow approved biosafety and arthropod-containment procedures.

A Ph.D. in genetics, molecular biology, entomology, biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, microbiology, genomics, or a closely related field is required. Preferred experience includes insect genetics, CRISPR genome editing, molecular cloning, transgenesis, DNA-repair assays, embryo microinjection, sequencing-based editing analysis, genetic crosses, insect-stock maintenance, and gene-drive or transgene-removal systems.

The full-time position offers salary commensurate with qualifications and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, paid leave, retirement enrollment, and wellness benefits. Applicants should submit a CV and references with email addresses and daytime phone numbers through the online Workday application portal.
