About this position

Texas A&M University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Biology in College Station, Texas. The researcher will investigate the genetic basis of phenotypic variation using Drosophila as a model system.

The laboratory studies how structural variants, repetitive DNA, and other forms of genetic variation influence gene regulation, genome function, and organismal traits. Research may combine molecular biology, genetics, functional genomics, population genomics, pangenomics, genome engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, sequencing, and analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, or phenotypic datasets. The selected researcher will lead independent projects while contributing to collaborations, publications, grant reporting, laboratory activities, and student mentoring.

Applicants must hold an appropriate PhD in a related field. Preferred backgrounds include genetics, genomics, molecular biology, evolutionary biology, computational biology, or bioinformatics, together with peer-reviewed research experience. Experience with high-throughput sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9, genome engineering, population or evolutionary genomics, pangenomics, and reproducible data analysis is advantageous. Candidates with either experimental or computational expertise are encouraged to apply, and the balance of approaches can be tailored to their interests and career goals.

This is a full-time staff position with compensation commensurate with education and experience. Continued employment and salary depend on grant or contract funding availability. Texas A&M provides employee benefits including health insurance, paid leave, retirement enrollment, professional development, and tuition assistance.

Apply through the Texas A&M Workday portal. Applicants must complete the required application data or attach a complete resume; submitting a cover letter and resume is strongly recommended.
