About this position
The Royal College of Art in London, United Kingdom, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the School of Architecture's Intergenerational Design Lab.
The role contributes to ambitious interdisciplinary housing research and knowledge-exchange activities, including the Lab's Home and Heat theme. The successful researcher will work on high-quality research, dissemination, collaborative project development, funding applications, project delivery and management, research events, executive education, consultancy initiatives, and partnerships with academic, industry, public-sector, and third-sector organisations.
The position is connected to internationally recognised housing research led by Professor Sam Jacoby. RCA is recruiting for two complementary appointments: one at 0.6 FTE and one at 0.4 FTE. Applicants may be considered for either role or both; depending on the selection outcome, the posts may be filled by two candidates or combined into one full-time appointment.
Applicants should demonstrate strong academic and project management skills, collaborative experience, excellent organisation, and the ability to work independently in multidisciplinary environments. The role offers an opportunity to expand a research profile in architecture, housing, intergenerational design, and the built environment while contributing to a dynamic research lab at a world-leading art and design institution.
The application deadline is 15 November 2026. The advertised application route is through jobs.ac.uk. Questions or requests for assistance can be sent to [email protected].
