About this position
Texas A&M AgriLife Research is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support and manage the “Hungry Minds: Neurophysiological Studies of Nutritional Quality and Cognitive Resources” project in the Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture (IHA) in College Station, Texas.
This collaborative study between Texas A&M AgriLife Research and USDA-ARS uses a randomized controlled trial to investigate how dietary intake influences cognitive performance, emotion regulation, and behavioral economics outcomes. The research integrates behavioral economics with neurophysiological measures, including electroencephalography (EEG) and eye tracking, alongside dietary, anthropometric, biochemical, and clinical assessments.
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to implementation of the human research study and support participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, scheduling, and intervention-compliance monitoring. The role also involves collecting data at HBL and IHA Mobile Health Assessment Centers, developing online data-collection tools, cleaning and merging datasets, documenting research data, and conducting preliminary statistical analyses.
The researcher will help maintain IRB protocols and regulatory compliance while protecting confidential participant information. Additional scholarly contributions include literature reviews, study reports, manuscripts, presentations, grant proposals, and summaries of research findings. The position offers an opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment connecting precision nutrition, responsive agriculture, healthy living, cognitive neuroscience, and public health.
The work is based within IHA, whose mission is to improve health and nutrition security, reduce diet-related chronic disease, address health inequities, and support sustainable food systems through collaborative research.
