About this position
Washington University in St. Louis is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in Nutritional Science at the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis, Missouri, United States.
The postdoctoral researcher will join a team-oriented basic-translational laboratory studying mechanisms and pathways of metabolic disease. The research program seeks to identify therapeutic approaches for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and steatotic liver disease.
The project focuses on mitochondrial metabolism in liver macrophages and will use isotope tracing, flow cytometry, molecular biology, in vitro cell culture systems, and novel mouse models. The successful candidate will investigate how obesity-related metabolic disease alters macrophage metabolism and how modulation of nutrient flux may influence liver injury and metabolic dysfunction. Experience in immunometabolism and the listed experimental approaches is advantageous.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree. Responsibilities include designing experiments, evaluating and reporting research findings, preparing manuscripts and grant materials, maintaining accurate research records, following ethical and laboratory standards, and working collegially within the research group. Laboratory work may involve biological and chemical hazards and standard care of research animals.
Base pay is commensurate with experience, and eligible employees may receive Washington University benefits. The posting does not specify a salary amount or application deadline. Applications should be submitted through the WashU Workday portal.
