About this position
The Cordy Lab in the Department of Biology at Wake Forest University is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to study malaria-induced dyserythropoiesis and the redox biology of red blood cells. The project is part of a newly NIH-funded research program examining host-parasite mechanisms that drive severe malarial anemia and evaluating host-targeting therapeutic strategies.
The fellow will work with in vitro human primary cell models and archived tissue specimens to investigate erythroid biology in the context of malaria. The research uses a combination of flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and multi-omics analyses to generate and analyze data from erythroid culture experiments. The position emphasizes both experimental work and downstream interpretation of complex biological datasets.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative environment within the Wake Forest Center for Redox Biology & Medicine and will work with multiple collaborating labs. The role also includes opportunities to contribute to manuscripts, conference presentations, grant applications, and the mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students within a supportive laboratory culture.
The post is a full-time appointment with salary aligned to institutional and NIH guidelines and includes benefits. The position is initially for one year with the possibility of extension depending on funding and performance.
